Capture your holiday in South Bruce Peninsula

A picture is worth a thousand words. In this era of capturing every moment with photographs, no visit to South Bruce Peninsula would be complete without snapping a pic in some key spots. We love pictures too and while we know you’re going to stop for selfies along the way, we encourage you to slow down and experience South Bruce Peninsula like a local. Enjoy our restaurants, take a tour with a local guide, stay for a few days to gain a true appreciation of what makes this area so special.

Sauble Arch

Sauble Arch

The perfect day at Sauble Beach always includes a photo under the iconic Sauble Beach arch. Whether you’re an early riser and get a sunrise pic or add this to your post-ice cream sunset tour, this photo has been taken for generations and will continue to be taken. It’s a rite of passage for any visitor to the beach. Be sure to make a day of your Sauble Beach visit, (if not a week). Spend the day at the beach, enjoy lunch or dinner overlooking Lake Huron, test your courage at Ascent Aerial park, shop along the strip and then grab that must-have photo for your travel log.

Wiarton Willie Statue

While Wiarton Willie has his den at Bluewater Park, you will find it very challenging to get a pic of this elusive groundhog. But we have a solution! Along the shoreline in the park, you’ll find a larger than life Wiarton Willie statue who isn’t shy and is ready and waiting to pose for the perfect pic. Don’t just stop and shoot. You can camp in the park, stay for the day, swim in Colpoy’s Bay, hike the Bruce Trail and do your shopping and dining in downtown Wiarton.

MacNeil Mansion, Spirit Rock, Wiarton

McNeill’s Estate at Spirit Rock

Spirit Rock and MacNeill’s Estate Conservation Area just North of Wiarton are a photographer’s dream. The ruins of the McNeill Estate provide a glimpse into the history of Bruce County and its settlers. The ruins are all that remains of The Corran, a 17-room lavish mansion built by Alexander McNeill back in 1881. You can take some stunning photographs amongst the ruins, then follow the Bruce Trail to the spiral metal staircase that leads you to the edge of Georgian Bay where you’ll be inspired to capture the turquoise blue magic of the bay. Pay for parking to support the Conservation Authority’s work across the Grey Sauble watershed. Pack a lunch with local food from Dejong Acres or a local market, or head back into Wiarton for lunch or dinner. Stay nearby at the Spirit Rock Outpost and Lodge.

Red Bay Sunset

The prettiest sunsets in Ontario–that’s Red Bay’s claim to fame. We encourage you to plan a day (or a few!) around that claim with a camera in hand. Book a stay at nearby Red Bay Lodge, pitch a tent at Red Bay Tent and Trailer Park or stay in style at Evergreen Resort. Be prepared to capture the changing moods of Lake Huron then end your day at the Red Bay beach for the perfect sunset photo.
